Baton Rouge : Louisiana

Situated on the east side of the Mississippi River, Baton Rouge is the capital of Louisiana. Baton Rouge is a thriving city with the best of Louisiana’s vibrant culture and home town for both the LSU and Southern University. Baton Rouge is 60 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico. Baton Rouge is French for red stick, which refers to a cypress post marking the boundary of tribal hunting grounds. It has a subtropical climate with brief winter cold spells. Baton Rouge is fifth among the ten most wettest cities with plenty of precipitation.
